Traditionally, cast iron inserts were used Victorian times to accommodate a real, open fire. They are still very fashionable today and create a striking feature in classically inspired interiors and many are available with dedicated gas fire which 'drop-in' to the fire chamber to replicate the charm of a real fire but with the convenience of gas which tends to appeal more with modern day living.
The downside with reproduction cast iron inserts with a dedicated gas fire is that due to their construction, the gas fire will lose most of the heat produced up the chimney so they are classed as more a decorative feature rather than a real heat source. With rising energy prices, the majority of home owners are now wanting a gas fire that not only looks great, but will act as a genuine heat source for their room that can provide as an alternative to heating their whole house with a central heating system.
With this in mind, Gallery Fireplaces have introduced a range of cast iron inserts called 'Efficiency Plus'. Based on three of their most popular models, the are manufactured in a unique way which allows them to be combined with a choice of high output and high efficiency gas fires or for those living in a property without a chimney or flue, they can even be combined with a dedicated Balanced Flue gas fire which vents the fumes horizontally through an external wall.
As they do not feature deep, cast iron back sections as standard cast inserts do, all cast iron components on the Efficiency Plus range fit within a 3" fireplace surround rebate resulting in less building work needed during installation. Designed to fit within all standard fireplace surrounds, they will provide a stunning, authentic looking feature whilst benefiting from a impressive output and lower running costs. For shallower flues including Class 2 Pre-Cast, there is a Slimline gas fire available.
The Toulouse is a tiled insert that is offered with a large range of fireplace tile sets.
